We as a collective tend to avoid the "best" Commanders (Narset, Enlightened Master), and if we do run one of those, they are purposefully "powered down" to stay inline with the rest of the table (Zur the Enchanter)

The only caveat is that if the monster you targeted has 2000 or more defense, then you just wasted a trap card
